Hi Bettina,

please use GRASS 5.4 or 6.0:

 http://grass.itc.it/grass54/binary/linux/

The GRASS 5.3 binaries have been removed to make space for
GRASS 5.4 binaries. Note that you will miss a lot of new
functionality of not using GRASS 6.0.0:
