[GRASS-web] Complete Beginner and non-technical learner needs assistance for student project

Hello,

I have received the following files from my manager:

.dbf - This is the largest at 9,300 KB
.prj
.sbn
.sbx
.shp (2) files ,one says SHP, the other XML?
.shx

Apparently all of these files added up make a map that I need to use for a
student project (SUNY Albany) via work that I'm doing with students.

We (the students and I) have tried for the last week to get it to work to
no avail. Is there any way you could help us?

I am using the latest version of GRASS GIS 7.0.5
