I've been trying to work this out as well.  I had some success before
and have been trying to duplicate that, but haven't had much time of
late.

This is part of the grass 5.1 initative.  From what I've seen progress
is good, but it will be a while to completion...

I have committed twice that I would upload a version, but some parts are
still not working and I haven't had the time to find out why, so I've
put off uploading the version that I have.  All of the commands that I
commonly use are working, but I've been trying to test some other
commands and get bogged down and have to put it off.  

It may be better to just upload what I have and let everyone use 5.0.0,
than waiting 'til everything is tested by me.  Any objections?
