[winGRASS] Starting Grass5

Hi Marc.

Grass can't deal with spaces in directory names unfortunately and there's a
space in your user name and consequently your home directory path name:

"Unabel to properly access /home/Marc Zapata/.gislock5"

Try running as a different user without spaces.

As an experiment it may also be possible to copy the directory "/home/Marc
Zapata" to something like "/home/marc" and edit your "/etc/passwd" file to
reflect that change (after making a backup copy of the file of course).
Also make sure that the value of the HOME environment variable reflects that
change. Be aware that this change could potentially mess up the system in
ways I can't predict.

Cheers

Mike Thomas

Subject: [winGRASS] Starting Grass5

Hi

I have just finished downloading and installing Cygwin and Grass 5.0 on
windows xp.

When I try to start Grass5 from the cygwin shell I get the following message

{: Zapata/. grassrc5: unknown operand
usage: /user/local grass5/etc/loc file pid
Unabel to properly access /home/Marc Zapata/.gislock5
Please notify system personel.

Can anyone help me with this problem.

Cheers,

Marc.
