[winGRASS] warning error reading compressed map in mapset

Dear all,

I am a new user of wingrass and therefore I am quite unfamiliar with this software. I have realised that I get lot of problems running grass from my laptop whereas none from other pcs. I wonder why. The first problem is in using r.in.gdal to import data from arc to grass. It apparently works properly but at the end there is no map imported that can be visualised. The same occurs using r.in.arc or r.in.ascii. I have tried to import data from another computer and then transfer those files to my lap top. But when transferring the files they get corrupted and the following message is shown: "warning error reading compressed map ... in mapset [permanent] row 2222". This happens with all the files I have transferred although they display properly in the other pcs. I have reinstalled grass several times but it doesn´t seem to work out.
Could there be any incompatibility with windows XP? I would appreciate any comment that could help to sort out this problem.
