[winGRASS] MAKING a MASK?

Hello,

I am a winGRASS 6.0 user and I am working in the
analysis of satellite images.

 I have a problem making Masks in my images: I don’t
understand how I can use this feature of the program. 

 Does anyone know how to make Masks without using
r.mapcalc?
