Hi,

to help people who are sitting behind nasty firewalls
to participate in IRC communication, OSGeo/Telascience.org
have set up a Web based IRC chat tool:

How to use it:

http://irc.telascience.org/
-> Open IRC
  -> change the default chat name with your (chat) name
  -> select the channel (#grass, #osgeo, #mapserver, ...)
     -> join the discussions there

Once in, you can enter more channels with (example)
/join #mapserver

It's a good idea to register, see such details here:
http://grass.gdf-hannover.de/wiki/Irc

Enjoy (and thanks to Frank et al.)
Markus
