[GRASS-windows] d.barscale draws bar up to right edge of map

Dear list,

I have found problems with d.barscale mentioned in bug tracker only for 
grass 7.

When trying to draw a scale bar using PNG driver in grass6.4.svn on 
windows7 (couple of months old -- it is the last version I have that 
does not need to delete vectors twice, see 
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/1158), the scale bar starts ok at 
specified coordinates but then keeps going up to the right edge of the 
map -- see sample output:

No text is drawn even if one tries to move it on top of the bar with -t.

This happens with any kind of combination of flags.

Is there a known way around this?
