Dear Peter
welcome! And thanks for your introduction. Everybody who knows you is more than happy of having you on board!
After the success of FOSS4G EU and with the horizon of the International one in Bonn next year, we (you and I but all the Eu Labs) have to strengthen our collaboration and networking. Now for me is holiday time (from Tuesday yeah!!! ) but the idea is to contact you again (privately) at the end of August to start organizing the autumn activities.
Thanks again for accepting.
And have a good holidays all the same.
MAria

Oggetto: [Ica-osgeo-labs] Greetings to the Mailing List
Hello everyone (new colleagues and existing ones),
I'm just using this email to introduce myself to you all.
Many of you will know me already but I am a Computer Scientist based in Maynooth University in Ireland. My (slightly outdated) webpage is here http://www.cs.nuim.ie/~pmooney
I was delighted to be nominated and accepted as the new European Region Co-Chair with Maria Brovelli and as a member of the Geo4All Advisory Board. This happened just last week in Como.
I have been working in the geospatial 'space' for over 12 years now. I am very deeply committed to all things open - open source software, open data and open doors for everyone who wants to use these technologies in their daily lives. Of particular research interest to me is Volunteered Geographic Information, Citizen Science and government and industrial adoption of open data and outputs from VGI and Citizen Science.
It will take me a little while to settle in to my new role. However I am really excited about the prospect of working with you all and expanding and driving the Geo4All message and agenda forward.
With every best wish,
Peter Mooney
