Raffaele,
Thanks for the information and updates.
1. Great idea to plan short course at EGU 2016. There are many summer schools/short courses etc many of our colleagues have done for Open Source, Open Data in Geospatial globally so it will be good synergies. Please do keep the list updated on your plans and our colleagues will contribute.
2. Excellent idea. Please inform also other colleagues at University of Basilicata and RSE to join Geo4All. Our Europe chairs (Maria Brovelli and Peter Mooney) will be please to provide any details you need.
Looking forward to you and your colleagues active participation in Geo4All.
Best wishes,
Suchith

Dear Suchith,
thanks so much for your interest in my initiative. I will do the best to promote the exchange of ideas and develop collaborations between OSGeo and EGU community. I hope GEOforALL community can support the concrete realization of the short course at EGU 2016 that could be the first milestone to start this “natural” collaboration process.
My colleagues and me will be really glad to be part of GEO4ALL as industry partner (thanks for the kind invitation). In the last period, we are involved not only in FOSS professional developing projects but we have established a collaboration with LAB.GIS of School of Engineering and some colleagues of Department of Informatics of University of Basilicata http://portale.unibas.it/site/home.html and some colleagues of RSE (Italian Research Centre on Energy and Water System) http://www.rse-web.it/home.page to costitute a group, called GEOFloodRiskGroup, to develop some QGIS tools on hydrogeological risk, that will be published approximately in the end of this year. Maybe, if we can partecipate in GEOforALL with this group/Lab name, It will be great. I think that this group could be more stronger in promote, to diverse stakeholders, open source software, open data, open publication and education. I hope to receive GEO4all community and your suggestions and comments.
Thanks,
Raffaele

Welcome Raffaele to Geo4All and we look forward to your active contribution and collaboration. It will be great if you can be our ambassador at EGU community and get more ideas/cross collaborations for the future.
Also i was very impressed by your work on UNIBAS Wat-TUBE spin-off and the development of software in the field of environmental monitoring. We welcome UNIBAS Wat-TUBE to join Geo4All as an industry partner of Geo4All . Please add the details in the table at http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Edu_current_initiatives#sortable_table_id_0
This is a good example for others interested to explore startups building on Open Source ideas.

Thanks for your supports!
My idea is to organize a short courses, (a provisional title could be "Geospatial Open Source Software for Your Research: OSGeo-Live”), based on the OSGeo-live training that involve a presentation and some exercises on the FOSS software, tools and open-data. Of course, we can focus on some of the several tools developed by the OSGeo community. Finally, the course can provide one or more short invited speeches on some scientific applications or papers based on Geospatial Open Source Software and Data. This could increase the scientific sound of the OSGeo software.

Dear Sergio Acosta y Lara,
thanks for your warm welcome. I will follow your suggestion and I will join the european group of GEOforALL.
However, I want to invite also non-european GEOforALL members that are interested in EGU to exchange ideas and initiatives.

Welcome Raffaele to the network. I'm sure your comments will be well received by the members, specially the European ones. By the way, you should join some of the region wise and subject wise thematic groups of Geoforall initiative (http://www.osgeo.org/node/1505). Your idea of a short course at EGU 2016 is excellent. If you need any help I'm sure someone in the list will assist you.

Dear GEOforALL members,
I have joined the osgeo group from short time but I'm really interested to give my active contribute to this excellent community, if it is possible.
I’m a research associate at University of Basilicata (UNIBAS) where I work in the field of water resource management, in particular flood risk and management, GIS and hydrology. I’m also co-founder of the UNIBAS Wat-TUBE spin-off where we work on the development of software in the field of environmental monitoring.
I’m new in the FOSS community but, since I have started to work in the geoscience field, I strongly believe that the scientific community should support in a deeper way the open geo-science.
As Early Career Scientists Representative (ECR) of Natural Hazard (NH) Division of EGU (European Geoscieces Union) (http://www.egu.eu/ecs/representatives/), I want to invite all the scientists that are part of OSGeo community to propose ideas, initiatives, activities and session of EGU2016 that I can propose to the NH Division and EGU community.
In this context, I want to promote at EGU 2016 a short course which gives introductions to OSGeo software tools and give an overview of some excellent scientific application cases of FOSS tools.
I’m part of the opengeoscience osgeo project and some members of this group have suggested me to contact GEOforALL that maybe could be interested in this initiative. I hope to receive your support and suggestions.
Yours,
Raffaele
