[Incubator] [rasdaman-users] Re: [rasdaman-dev] rasdaman incubation

Peter,

We are starting to get there. Well done on getting this together.

There shouldn't be too much more work required at this stage, though
questions may well be asked once the project is put forward for incubation.

I've identified a few areas where some effort is required below.

Some comments:

We need to use the new version of the Incubation Graduation checklist [1].

The first criterion 'Open' does not appear to have been addressed. Perhaps
I've missed it. If so, please ensure that this is clearly covered at the
top of the page.

Project documentation response at 'point 2' of Copyright and License
contains a link. The link just refers to documentation on the wiki
submitted by Peter Bauman.

- What of Wiki contributions by other parties? is there a an agreement that
Wiki editors commit to?

- What of other project documentation in files etc? For example the
Rasdaman Installation guide [3] is copyright to Rasdaman GMBH and does not
appear to be released under an open license such as CC BY.

Provenance Review:

- JSR 275
<http://rasdaman.org/browser/applications/petascope/lib/jsr-275-1.0-beta-2.jar>
does not appear to be covered by a license.

- Clarification is required for OGC Team Engine

- more work is required under the Rasdaman Server section to fill in the
details.

- I'd suggest a section covering the methodology and work that was to
undertake the code provenance review.

- the link to the list of copyright holders points to the code provenance
review URL. Was this intended?

- I like the contributor listing in the Patch manager URL. Are you also
able to list the organisation that the contributor is from (where
appropriate)?

- How can the details of the contributor agreements be accessed if
required. How are they archived?

Processes: Governance

- The governance wiki page [2] refers to a url attached to the text
'instruments' on the second line. This is linked to the Wiki Start page.
Was this intended? It doesn't really make sense.

- The governance page refers to a rasdaman-psc google group. Does this
exist? It is also not referred to on the mailing list wiki page.

Release Procedure

- point 1.a. contains a link to the testing process. This URL points to a
password protected Jenkins page. This is not very useful.

Board Contact.

The Rasdaman Community will need to nominate a Project contact for the
OSGeo Board.

Section labelled Projects.

Is there anything OSGeo related that needs to be included here? I seem to
recall discussion about GDAL, MapServer, and various packaging communities
for instance.

Section labeled PSC

This section does not really fit in the current Checklist.

I hope this helps,

Bruce
