I think you threw an w in subject.  Should be MapLibre GL or just MapLibre which is a fork of the old MapBox that changed licensing to be not open source.

 

I would love to see this as a project in OSGeo as I use this library quite a bit and love it.

 

So +1 from me to also try to push them thru incubation.

 Yes, sorry for the typo - it is mad busy here. Could not keep people
focused long enough to write the email. I hope the URLs made it all clear!

I am trying work on listing more projects on the website. Especially for
these established projects. But we have a model where they have to ask to
be listed; and they do not know to ask.

we hereby apply for the incubation process for GeoStyler becoming an 
OSGeo project.

GeoStyler is a set of open source libraries providing mechanisms for 
converting between different map styling formats (e.g. SLD, OpenLayers, 
Mapbox, QGIS, etc.). On top of that, GeoStyler also provides a UI for 
creating/editing styles regardless of the styling format.

GeoStyler has been an OSGeo community project since 2020.

We probably already fit most of the criteria for OSGeo projects:

- geospatial: Yes
- open source license: BSD-2-Clause
- accepts contributions: Yes, with more than 30 contributors so far.
- source code check, with source code audit: Yes, all contributions go 
through a code review process.
- open community with transparent communication and decision making 
process: Yes. Communication via github issues, discussions and discord 
channel. Decision making process via code review.
- active and healthy community with user and developer collaboration, 
drawing members from several organizations for long term viability: Yes. 
Active regular contributors from terrestris, IGN France, camptocamp, 
geographika and many others. Annual code sprints since 2022.
- development supported by version control and issue tracker: Yes, via

- developer leadership offering both transparent decision making and an 
opportunity for new members to participate: Yes. Decision making via 
code review. Contributing guideline

Thank you for your reply. You where correct that there wasn't a lot of 
information available targeted at people who want to collaborate with us 
on the LUE project. We think we remedied this by adding a Community 
section at the LUE website: https://lue.computationalgeography.org/ This 
section also includes our code of conduct.

An overview of contributions over time by each collaborator can be found 
here:

https://github.com/computationalgeography/lue/graphs/contributors

In the past a limited number of people have contributed to the LUE 
software. This is something we would like to change, which is a reason 
to request our project to be added to the OSGeo list of projects.

following your website links.

Right now you do not say it explicitly, but you are expecting contributions
made to be under the MIT license.

Your license indicates "Copyright (c) 2016-now LUE developers" so if one
external to the project is making a PR are you expecting them to provide
(c)? Was trying to think how that works? Perhaps trust git history to
identify file contributors as your indication of copyright. In anywise
those are deeper questions for another time ?

I searched on the website for "kdejong" but did not find you - can you
login to the website once (which will create a profile which I can then
provide project author permissions).

Good points, indeed. I think we will have to add a contributor license 
agreement for that. I will look into that.
