From maplabs at light42.com Mon Feb 2 07:40:13 2026 From: maplabs at light42.com (Brian M Hamlin) Date: Mon, 2 Feb 2026 07:40:13 -0800 Subject: [Incubator] TorchGeo -- Call for Vote to Graduate Message-ID: <0b8e990d-b28c-f3f4-fc2b-544cd400cbe9@light42.com> Hello All - ? With this email, I am pleased to present to the OSGeo Incubation Committee an OSGeo Project Candidate :? TorchGeo [0]. As Project Mentor I have worked closely with the TorchGeo PSC and code base.? In my best judgement, I find that TorchGeo is not only a suitable candidate, but in fact a substantial addition to a large set of consequential and significant geospatial software projects of our current era, represented by OSGeo. The Program Steering Committee (PSC) of TorchGeo is composed of a small but diverse group of committers; the PSC has defined clear standards for code contributions, bugs, features and additions. Due to the unique character of this training and benchmarking environment, many complete teams from more than a hundred institutions worldwide are contributing and active in the project.? As a Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence environment itself, new data LICENSE challenges are present as well. You will find abundant links and details in the project Application [1] and Code Review [2].? The TorchGeo project release cycle is integrated with OSGeo Planet and news -- /special thanks to/ *JSanz*. Please review and cast your vote at your earliest convenience. Questions and other inquiries will be handled on an OSGeo TRAC instance ticket [3].?? The voting period shall begin with the date of this email, and scheduled to conclude in 14 days hence. Special gratitude on this important day goes out to the *OSGeo Systems Administration Team* for TRAC, MediaWiki, *email* and support infrastructure ? signed --Brian M Hamlin??? /? MAPLABS? /?
