The Space Informatics Lab (SIL) at the University of Cincinnati offers a 
postdoctoral position in the area of space informatics. This interdisciplinary 
area requires expertise in one or more of the following fields: geoinformatics, 
web cartography, computer vision, and machine learning. Ability to develop 
computer codes (C, Python) is required and experience with GRASS and GeoServer 
are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be involved in NSF, NASA, 
and UC-funded research projects focusing on data mining and content-based 
information retrieval from very large spatial datasets. Representative 
projects can be found on the SIL web page (http://sil.uc.edu/). The position 
requires solving challenging research problems in an independent fashion. 
Passion for research is expected and good communication skills are a plus.  
Maintaining a Linux-powered computational server is expected. The position is 
offered for an initial period of one year with possibility of extension for 
another year. Position is available starting March 1, 2013, but the starting 
date is flexible and the position will remain open until filled.
