Columbus Technologies is aggressively seeking a Data Services Architect Earth Science Data with NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System group at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. This is a full time, fully benefited on going assignment. Unfortunately no telecommuting will be offered, and US permanent residency is a minimum requirement this position.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
This position will support the Earth Science Data and Information Systems (ESDIS) Project at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD providing System Engineering and architecture support with a focus on data engineering as it applies to Earth Science data. The candidate will support the ESDIS Civil Servant Lead with on-going activities providing engineering analysis, trade studies, reports, developing and documenting application-level requirements, presentations, and aid for collaboration activities, including web sites, weekly conference calls, etc. The candidate should have a solid understanding of Earth science data and current acquisition, ingest, processing, archiving, and distribution methods with an understanding of the analytic purposes to which the data is used and emerging technologies for data storage, transformation, and retrieval including implementation of special services such as OPeNDAP, Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), web services, cloud-computing, etc.
Required Skills:
Position requires a solid understanding of NASA's Earth science data, applications and systems coupled with an IT background and demonstrated practical experience with data-related services e.g., OPeNDAP, OGC, Web mapping, Web Processing, Cloud computing, etc. Selectee must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for professional representation of NASA's strategic interests during face-to-face meetings, telecons, and multi-user forums and presentations. The successful candidate will be relied upon to compile emails, presentations, and complex documents that will be sent/used throughout ESDIS community of associated users and partners, with specific understanding and sensitivity to international partnerships and concerns. Must have excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills, and be able to work independently and/or as part of a team, building strong working relationships with internal and external teams and partners. Demonstrated analytical and engineering experience is required.
Education / Experience:
A minimum of a BS in science related curriculums, computer science, or related field.
