Chartwell Consultants Ltd. is a dynamic natural resource-based consulting firm with offices in North Vancouver, Squamish, Gibsons and Chilliwack. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for a Database Administrator/GIS Programmer position to join our team in our North Vancouver office.

Chartwell is looking for a self-motivated individual who has strong organizational skills and works well in a team environment. The successful candidate will provide application development and recommendations on technology direction, and must possess the following:

  *   Undergraduate degree in computer science or Advanced Diploma in GIS plus programming experience
  *   Superb oral and written communication skills
  *   Exceptional troubleshooting abilities
  *   Spatial database design, development, and administration with: PostgreSQL/PostGIS and ArcSDE
  *   Desktop mapping: QGIS and/or ArcGIS
  *   Web mapping: GeoServer and/or ArcGIS Server
  *   Website development: JavaScript and HTML
  *   Programming and scripting: Python, ArcObjects and SQL
  *   UNIX shell scripting
  *   Canadian citizenship or legally qualified to work in Canada

 Desirable criteria are:

  *   Minimum three years related experience
  *   Excellent data analysis and data management skills
  *   Knowledge of MS Active Directory and/or LDAP
  *   Experience with XML/GML, FME, ArcPy
  *   Microsoft Access and Visual Basic
  *   Java, PHP or other server-side scripting languages
  *   Mobile application development
  *   GIS web server administration
  *   Familiar with BC Government datasets and/or Electronic Submission Framework (ESF) applications
  *   Working knowledge of operational forestry or other natural resource-based mapping
