Hi All,

Are you a software developer with database expertise who wants to makes a huge impact on the lives of New Zealanders? Would you like the chance to design and develop new spatial database solutions that directly contributes to NZ Open Data?

As the DevOps Database Developer, you’ll enjoy working in an agile and Open Source based environment and have the ability to shape how we deliver our services and data to support LINZ’s data strategy. You will work closely with LINZ technical leaders and experts to design and develop applications for LINZ PostgreSQL databases and drive operational efficiencies in the ways spatial databases are managed and operated.

In this role you will be responsible for the design and development of new LINZ spatial solutions alongside updating and improving existing spatial database solutions. You will need to provide database SQL query advice and programming support for our Location Information analyst staff.

To be successful in this role you will need:

*  5-10 years experience with database and software development
* Advanced database design and development skills – PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL, PL/PgSQL
* Advanced database performance tuning and administering skills
* Advanced Bash/Python/Perl scripting skills
* Advanced Linux systems administering skills
* Proven process management skills and the ability to simplify complex processes
* Strong Agile and DevOps background
* The ability to learn quickly when facing new problems, and be open to change and ambiguity
* Proven experience in using rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions

Ideally you are an Open Source contributor.

You will have need proven ability to work in agile, collaborative environments and to communicate solutions and ideas to people. In this role you will be empowered and trusted to deliver end to end solutions. The only real constraints are your skills, knowledge and courage. As part of the role you will be encouraged to develop skills and explore new approaches and technologies to deliver high quality results.
