We are looking for a GIS junior-mid professional to join the international community of the JRC in Ispra (Italy).

The JRC is the in-house Research Centre of the European Commission (https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en).



The Project:

Under SEACOST WP of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (DG Environment, European Commission), the JRC was assigned the development of a dedicated Biodiversity web-space tool open to Member-States, to facilitate data management related to marine biodiversity.



The Role will focus on:

·       Design of a Web-based GIS platform

·       WIKIs development

·       GIS components development, data analysis testing and deployment



The ideal candidate will have strong skills and experience with:

·       Design and testing of web-spaces and related tools

·       Design and management of WIKIs

·       Statistical analysis and data-mining

·       Technical documentation



Tools & Technology to be used:

·       R and Python programing languages

·       SPSS

·       PRIMER for Multidimensional Scaling (MDS)

·       Principle Component Analysis (PCA)



Requirements:

·       M.A. or B.A. in GIS or related field

·       Professional experience of min. 5 years

·       Working ability in English



Our offer:

·       Full-time contract of 1.000 days with possibility of renewal

·       Daily rate starting from 290€ (depending on experience)



NOTE: During Covid-19 the selected Consultant will WFH. Re-opening of the JRC site will be done gradually and in a cautious way, putting health and safety first.
