(Apologies for any cross-posting).
Please note that applicants without PhDs are eligible to apply if they have demonstrable equivalent work experience of scientific synthesis and writing).

Postdoctoral Research Associate in applied informatics / FAIR and interoperable environmental data science – 28 months (ref: R220727)

Postdoctoral Research Associate in environmental / geospatial modelling and data management – 26 months (ref: R220728)

Application deadline: 20 November 2022

Applicants are invited to apply for two Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) positions to join the Horizon Europe project ‘AllData4GreenDeal’ (AD4GD) https://www.ad4gd.eu/. The post holders will join the highly-respected School of Informatics and Digital Engineering at Aston University, and will work with a consortium of expert partners from across Europe.

AD4GD’s goal is to enable integration of data from remote sensing, citizen science, Internet of Things (IoT), socio-economic data and VREs / research infrastructures in an interoperable, scalable and reliable manner to deliver services that support decision-making around Green Deal priorities. The Aston University team (lead academic and two PDRAs) will work on interdisciplinary tasks to lay the groundwork for three exciting pilot studies focussing on pollution, biodiversity and climate change, and will then coordinate the consortium in implementing those pilot studies.

Both post holders will actively engage with data producers, users and managers and other stakeholders, and work closely with AD4GD consortium partners to deliver technical implementations that meet the identified requirements. You will lead specified research tasks as required and will disseminate research findings in high quality publications and reports.

You will have a PhD (or equivalent work experience) in a relevant discipline, and a CV / publication record demonstrating the capacity for independent research. Please see the job descriptions at the links below for more detail on the nature of the work and the experience required.

Both posts require a high level capability for synthesizing information, and an enthusiasm for solving environmental decision-making challenges by applying advanced technical solutions and communicating the results to a wide audience. We aim to build a strong team with good communications skills and a reliable work ethic.

Please submit your application with contact details of 3 referees, a CV, and covering letter stating why you are interested and what you would bring to the project. For informal enquires or further information, please directly contact Dr Lucy Bastin (l.bastin at aston.ac.uk<mailto:l.bastin at aston.ac.uk>).
