As Peter confirmed via a mercurial pull, this was two bugs in the filtering.  The first was that the filters we reading and accepting the last point in the file regardless of whether or not it passed the filter.  The second was filtering was not gracefully handling reading through past the end of the file.  Both issues have been resolved.
