I think you are in the OSGeo majority in your desire to maximise your 
gift to human kind through the use of Open Source and Open Documentation.
You might be in the minority on the best way to achieve this on this one 
point.

When looking at your score board of what you have influenced so far:
1. Motivated us to clean up our act and be specific about what license 
we are using.
2. Motivated us to use CC-By-SA for our more valuable Quickstarts. (I 
was previously erring toward CC-By for these docs too)

 From your view, two steps forward, one back. Hopefully better than 
where we started.
