Edit the Exec line in the .desktop file like so:

  Exec=env OTB_APPLICATION_PATH=/usr/lib/otb/applications monteverdi

Short term solution is to make this modification in the install_otb.sh 
script in OSGeo-Live, but this should be fixed in the .desktop file that 
gets installed by the OTB build system.
