Meanwhile several things have happend:

1. Schuyler has agreed to become second project admin in a private
   email. Thank you!
2. I have prepared some new FC 5 GIS packages: gdal, grass,
   gdalgrass (the plugin to access grass date through gdal and ogr),
   qgis and postgis.  All package are available through our
   FTP-Server at [1] and will be available through the
   FreeGIS-mirror [2] tomorrow. I have made a review request on Fedora Extra
   for gdal [3] and postgis [4]. It would be nice if some
   of those that are working more often with grass/qgis/gdalgrass
   could give a try to those packages. If they are OK with you I
   will announce them on Fedora Extra as will.

I would like to begin group maintainance for those packages as soon
as possible since packaging all this software alone is very
ambitious.

The only obstacle to do so is to decide about a project name for the
new gforge project my suggestions are:

FreeGIS-pkg
OSGEO-pkg

I don't have a real favorite. It would be nice to get any comment on
this topic so that I can start to set up the project.
