Mapbender Version 5.0.0-RC2 released 2026-08-20 - Call for testing

Hallo Mapbender-Community,

das Team bereitet mit Hochdruck die neue Version 5.0.0 vor, die 
voraussichtlich nun Ende August erscheinen wird.

Das Mapbender-Entwicklungsteam hat die Mapbender Version 5.0.0-RC2 heute 
am 2026-08-20 veröffentlicht. Seit dem RC1 sind nochmal 220 Commits 
passiert, vor allem bei den OGC API Features gab es nochmal zahlreiche 
Verbesserungen und grundsätzliche Bugfixes. Wenn im finalen Testing 
alles gut läuft soll diese Version dann sehr bald veröffentlicht werden, 
es sind keine Änderungen außer wichtige Bugfixes mehr geplant.

Das gebaute Paket findet sich unter [1] und der Tag der Version 
5.0.0-RC2 unter [2].

Bis zum finalen Release arbeiten wir jeweils im Branch develop [3].

Wir möchten die Community aufrufen, diese Vorab-Version eine Woche lang 
zu testen und Feedback zu geben - entweder via Mailing-Liste [4] oder 
als Ticket [5].

Neuerungen der Version 5.0.0

Umstieg auf die neue Version

PHP 8.2 ist die älteste unterstützte PHP-Version.
Wir empfehlen Ihnen ein Update auf Mapbender 5.0.0.
Ein Update von 3.3.x auf Version 5.0.0 ist möglich.

Es gibt aber ein paar Schritte zu beachten.
Lesen Sie daher unbedingt das Dokument UPGRADING.md [10].

Mapbender version 5.0.0-RC2 released 2026-08-20 - Call for testing

Hello Mapbender community,

The team is working flat out to prepare the new version 5.0.0, which is 
expected to be released in at the end of August 2026.

The Mapbender development team has released Mapbender version 5.0.0-RC2 
today 2026-08-20. Another 220 commits have been made since RC1; in 
particular, the OGC API Features component has seen numerous 
improvements and fundamental bug fixes. Provided that final testing goes 
well, this version is set to be released very soon; no further changes 
are planned other than critical bug fixes.

The built package can be found at [1] and the tag of version 5.0.0-RC2 
at [2].

Until the final release, we will work in branch develop [3].

We would like to call on the community to test this release candidate 
for a week and provide feedback - either via the mailing list [4] or as 
a ticket [5].

New features of version 5.0.0

We would like to highlight the following features:

Switching to the new version
------------------------------------------
PHP 8.2 is the oldest supported PHP version.
An update from 3.3.x to version 5.0.0 is possible. However, there are a 
few steps to follow.
It is therefore essential that you read the document UPGRADING.md [10].
