[Mapbender-users] Mapbender Version 5.0.0-RC1 released 2026-06-26 - Call for testing

Hallo Mapbender-Community,

das Team bereitet mit Hochdruck die neue Version 5.0.0 vor, die 
voraussichtlich im Juli erscheinen wird.

Das Mapbender-Entwicklungsteam hat die Mapbender Version 5.0.0-RC1 heute 
am 26.06.2026 veröffentlicht.

Das gebaute Paket findet sich (demnächst) unter [1] und der Tag der 
Version 5.0.0-RC1 unter [2].

Bis zum finalen Release arbeiten wir jeweils im Branch develop [3].

Wir möchten die Community aufrufen, diese Vorab-Version eine Woche lang 
zu testen und Feedback zu geben - entweder via Mailing-Liste [4] oder 
als Ticket [5].


Neuerungen der Version 5.0.0

Zur Übersicht der Neuerungen im Release 5.0.0 möchten wir auf den 
ausführlichen Visual Changelog-Artikel unter Aktuelles verweisen [6][7].
Darüberhinaus bietet das Changelog eine Übersicht über alle Änderungen [8].

Umstieg auf die neue Version
----------------------------
PHP 8.2 ist die älteste unterstützte PHP-Version.
Wir empfehlen Ihnen ein Update auf Mapbender 5.0.0.
Ein Update von 3.3.x auf Version 5.0.0 ist möglich.

Es gibt aber ein paar Schritte zu beachten.
Lesen Sie daher unbedingt das Dokument UPGRADING.md [10].

Mapbender version 5.0.0-RC1 released 2026-06-26 - Call for testing

Hello Mapbender community,

The team is working flat out to prepare the new version 5.0.0, which is 
expected to be released in July 2026.

The Mapbender development team has released Mapbender version 5.0.0-RC1 
today 2026-06-26.

The built package can be found at [1] and the tag of version 5.0.0-RC1 
at [2].

Until the final release, we will work in branch develop [3].

We would like to call on the community to test this release candidate 
for a week and provide feedback - either via the mailing list [4] or as 
a ticket [5].


New features of version 5.0.0
-------------------------------------
For an overview of the new features in the Major Release 5.0.0, we would 
like to refer you to the detailed Visual Changelog News [4]
The changelog also provides a list of all changes [6][7].

We would like to highlight the following features:

- Numerous design adjustments
- Support for OGC API - Features as a new data source
- Securing of data sources
- Print with batch mode
- Expanded capabilities in the application switcher
- Interactive help

Further information on the 4.2.0 release can already be found in the 
changelog [8].

Switching to the new version
----------------------------
PHP 8.2 is the oldest supported PHP version.
An update from 3.3.x to version 5.0.0 is possible. However, there are a 
few steps to follow.
It is therefore essential that you read the document UPGRADING.md [10].
