[mapguide-dev] Unmanaged Data APIs RFC

I am a little worried that the spec refers to paths on the server.
 
Does this mean that network shares (NFS, SMB, whatever) will not be supported?
 
Most of my unmanaged file-based data (orthos) are on a SAN, and only accessible by UNC or mapped drive/directory.
