new user of Mapguide

Hello All!!
I m new to the Mapguide.I wanted to know can we & how can we add points(or
lines,polygons) to a layaer. or say how can I create a new layer with
features specified by me.
I m not sure that Mapguide can be used for drawing maps also or it can be
only used for displaying maps on web.
please do reply to my query
