You would have to modify the existing template code and any of your
additional framework code in order to override the default behavior.

Where would this be set?  Would it be something that I could set on the
URL that calls the viewer from the overview frame, and would then be
cascaded through?  Or would I have to modify the template code for this
to work?

(note, these are hypothetical questions, as I'm using Fusion for my web
app framework)

Jason,

What if I added another optional parameter KEEPSELECTION that defaults
to 1 (true), but if you wanted to not keep the selection you could set
the KEEPSELECTION parameter to 0 (false). This way it behaves exactly as
described in the RFC, but allows you to have it the way it was. I can
update the RFC with this amendment.
