I know, that's why I was curios about RFC proposing XML definition change.
Shouldn't it propose client(s) functionality enchancement?

Maksim,

The reason for the RFC is so that the information is maintained in the XML
so that you can avoid the manually adding/removing the style information.
Instead, you will be able to use the client to just mark the style as not
displayed in the legend using either Studio or Maestro.

Hi Bruce,

You can change it manually (it's XML definition) and import it back. Then
you won't see unused geometries in both MG Studio or legend. BTW, I'm doing
it all the time :-) Maybe it's not up to the definition itself, it's rather
editor (MG Studio) that should take care of that when saving layer
definition back onto the server.
