[mapguide-internals] mgos 2.1 state

Well, I've have pretty good luck with compiles on CentOS(rhel) than anything else. I have recently started more in depth on openSuSE as that's what I've used for years.

I agree that many have probably been scared away from Linux trying to get builds to work. Most of the fixes I've done are pretty simple to get the builds to work on newer compilers. But as I was saying, I've having a hard time getting FDO for PostGIS and Oracle working correctly. The SDF and SHP have been pretty solid and performance is much improved over older versions.

Some folks at Autodesk have suggested a few times I get more involved in this. But I've had very little time this year because of other projects. Perhaps I can lend a hand in a month on wiki, etc. Who would I contact about contributing to that?

Thanks for the replys to both you and Jason.

Warren

We really need to get the linux stuff going :) the current state is terrible,
so many people have wasted so much time trying to build mapguide on
linux and failed, i think we have lost heaps of potential users because of this

It would really help if we move any updated build instructions over to the
mapguide wiki, rather than the osgeo wiki...

anecdotally based on what i have seen on the mailing list, there seems to be
a bigger demand for ubuntu than RHES/Centos
