[mapguide-internals] PHP 5.3 binary distribution update for installer (RE: PHP 5.3 (Trac ticket #1290))

We should be good to go.

Our web extension is built with VC9 (it won't build with VC6).

So we actually want to take the VC9 distribution for PHP - however in doing this we also need to insure that a VC8/VC9 version of Apache is also used as VC9 extensions don't play well with VC6 Apache.

Subject: [mapguide-internals] PHP 5.3 binary distribution update for installer (RE: PHP 5.3 (Trac ticket #1290))

Now that the RFC has been carried out, I gather we're good to upgrade the
binary distribution for the installer?

On a related note, the download page for PHP is just plain confusing.
There's 4 different binary versions available:

- VC9, Non Thread-Safe
- VC9, Thread-Safe
- VC6, Non Thread-Safe
- VC6, Thread-Safe

The download page states to use the VC9 distribution for IIS and VC6 for
Apache (w/ a stern warning not to use VC9 for Apache). Does this mean we
would now have to pack 2 versions of PHP w/ the installer? What a PITA!
