Subject: [mapguide-internals] MapGuide 2.2 RC3 build Linux and Windows
Hello,
I have posted the Linux binaries for MapGuide 2.2 RC3 http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/Release/2.2RC3/Notes. I am still validating the Ubuntu install. I am getting a download speed of 5 kbytes/sec from OSGeo downloads so it is taking longer than expected to validate the install.
We have (at least) two outstanding defects to fix before the final release.
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/ticket/1601 MgLayer constructor is not thread safe
http://trac.osgeo.org/fusion/ticket/428 MapGroup problem with tiled and dynamic mapguide layers
I am tentatively scheduling an RC4 build for March 11th. That will give the community some time to install the try out RC3 build. If nothing critical is found in RC4, we should be good to rebrand/post RC4 as MapGuide 2.2.0 Final on March 25th.
For future releases, I believe a partially dedicated resource for implementing build automation and test automation (unit tests, load tests, etc) will be a valuable addition to the project. As a first phase, OTX Systems will be funding/mentoring a resource to implement Cruise Control build automation for Windows. Community funding/sponsorship would allow the MapGuide Project to keep the resource long term.
Regards,
Trevor
