Hi Trevor,

Caching legend images alongside the layer definition was an idea that Zac
floated, but wasn't acted on because the legend perf fixes as per my
submission was "good enough" for our client.

One area that could definitely be improved upon is having a batched form of
MgMappingService::GetLegendImage(). 

Currently, having to pre-cache legend icons for a layer with X style rules
means hitting the same Layer Definition document X times, parsing the
document content X times, and traversing the Layer Definition object model X
times. Ugly.
