 Hi,

 Would it be possible to get a "gdalinfo" report on the TIFF file in
 question?  If you don't have gdalinfo already, you can use install FWTools
 (http://fwtools.maptools.org) to get gdalinfo.

 Generally speaking, I find this behavior quite surprising.
