 When starting the server without the env variable set
 the error message is simply "cannot init coordinate system".
 Although this is correct it is quite useless for any novice user.
 So the error message could be a lot more useful.

 I include a patch which adds a DEBUG level message to the output of the
 server when the Mentor dictionary variable is not set.
 This is just another message but an extremely useful one for a very
 important use case: start the server as a novice.....
