[mapguide-users] FORMAT=PNG, GIF,JPG

Sorry, I'm not sure how to enter an artifact or wish-list item. I do agree
that this would be a useful addition.

Yeah, looking at the source it passes a value of 7 for the quality. That's
out of a 100, so it's pretty low. And there's no way to change this right
now other than modifying the source and rebuilding.

You should enter this as an enhancement artifact / wish-list item. Seems
like a useful setting to be able to control.

Following an answer I picked up on this mailing list, I have tried setting
my FORMAT type to each of the three listed image types. I do this in this
in the ajaxmappane.templ file. When working with photos I get a nice
benefit from changing the default from PNG to GIF. The GIF images produced
in the AJAX viewer are about 1/3rd the size of the PNG images. That has to
have a positive impact on performance.

However, when I try JPG, the image looks like garbage. It seems that the
JPG is produced with near maximum compression and so loses almost all
detail. Can the compression rate be set in some fashion, by editing a file
or adding an argument to the URL constructor?

Thanks
