[mapguide-users] Issues installing Studio 2007

This is part of Autodesk's strategy of writing add-on software around
open-source solutions. They have created Studio as a commercial product and
as such, people will have to buy it in the future if they want to use it.
The same goes for MapGuide Enterprise. This makes perfect business sense to
me.

As Bill mentioned, the good folks at DM Solutions have written and
contributed MapGuide Web Studio to the MapGuide project and it is installed
on the server when you install MGOS 1.0.1. It is accessible from your
/mapguide/webstudio web directory.

I was installing Studio 2007 Enterprise from the ADN site. I use Mapguide
Open Source but with the retail Studio 2007. Sounds strange but I don't want
to deal with trial issues down the road. Is there going to be a free simple
release of Studio available to public after the Studio trial ends or do
users have to buy Studio to author maps? Has anyone planned for this change.
We are using open source software but once the studio preview ends how the
heck are maps going to be authored. Any information or tips welcome.

The issue was installing using report desktop in XP Pro once I got on the
machine physically the install worked perfectly.

I've experienced this problem once and traced it down to some spyware
protection program that was running on the machine we were installing it in.

Do you have any anti-virus/spyware programs running? Maybe try turning them
off while you are installing.

Hope this helps.

Can you provide more details?

What operating system are you using? I assume XP as opposed to Windows 2000
Pro?

What other Autodesk products do you have installed?

What version of Studio are you installing the preview or a trial of the
release?

There should be an MGStudioInstall.log written to your Documents and
Settings/user/local settings/temp folder that might be useful.

Regards,
Dave

Seems this error occurs during the DWG Extract and Transform sub
installation. Any ideas on how to fix?
