   It does seem to be contradictory. I may have been mistaken but I heard
the question asked during the 9.2 seminar.

seriously?  do you know this from experience?  that seems to contradict
esri's official position on this:

however, if it does 'work' perhaps the existing 9.1 fdo provider will work

actually 9.1 can connect but cannot edit a 9.2 generated sde database

As some may know, ESRI has releaseed ArcGIS 9.2 - which includes some
changes to the ArcSDE geodatabase.    From the ESRI side of things, a 9.1
client cannot connect to the new 9.2 database.  From this I would assume
that the ArcSDE FDO provider is going to need an update.

Is there any news on this and how it might play into the upcoming MGOS 1.1.0
/ FDO 3.2 release?  Will this be included or be a future update?
