Oracle and ODBC

I turned on the ODBC logging to see what was going on. I am seeing a no-rows
select on every table in my schema, such as 
SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE 1=2
I assume from here you are examining the result set to get column names and
types and what not. I further assume that none of my tables are passing the
"test" for tables. What conditions must be satisfied?
