[mapguide-users] King.Oracle 0.4.4 & MapGuide Studio

Hi Max,
I saw that issue with NUMERIC fields also. SHP provider is for example reporting 9 digit field (King.Oracle provider will create 9 digit column in Oracle) and than returning 10 digit number which than doesn't go into Oracle. I changed that for SHP provider NUMERIC field has +2 for precision.
This column BL_TAMBOL is char ?
I think you could could solve this by manually changing size of column in Oracle and then when importing from SHP select 'Skip Schema creatinon' (soemthing like that) in Fdo2Fdo.
I would like also to look at your shp file if you can send it to me (I can look in a couple of days).

Haris

Hi Haris,
Thanks a lot for your kind reply now all the things working great ,I able to upload the Shape file and later on can connect using the MapGuide Studio 2007.Your link for the King Oracle (Oracle Spatial) also helped a lot.

Today i tried to install another shape file with Thai characters and when i tried to copy to oracle 10gR2 Database using fdo2fdo tool ,it use to give error value too large for cloumn ,although the table and column are created by fdo2fdo tool.(Kindly refer to the attached file).

Any suggestions from your side.

Max

	Haris,

One of the problems we still face with the described setup is that, when using views, we don't really have the options of declaring spatial indexes to define the geometry type of the layer. I don't know if you can even create a spatial index on a view, but even if you could, we might have a large number of views based on the same underlying table. We don't really want to create a spatial index for each additional view.

Have you given any thought to previous discussions we about a "back-door" configuration option, which allows us to specify overrides for primary key and geometry type for the tables in a schema?

BTW, the provider is running great on our dataset. Thanks for the hard work!

		Hi,

Here is document which describes how King.Oracle provider uses Oracle Spatial.
It is about configuring Oracle metadata, Oracle views, spatial indexes, primary keys and sequences for use with King.Oracle provider.

I hope this is readable and understandable document and sorry for probable mistakes in English, any suggestions and corrections are welcome.

Great...I will get this loaded and tested.

It's be going really well lately (in terms of performance) and I'm about ready to release some sites to the Public. The anti-Microsoft crowd should be pleased with the AJAX viewer.

I have found a issue with provider not closing all statements (started in version 0.3.2) , so this could lead to increase of memory usage.

I fix it in 0.4.4 version of provider.

It would be great if you can try that and tell me if it is working for you now.

I'm testing this now and it seems that your provider is pulling up the spatial data much faster. The only problem that I'm running into is the server process is eating up memory at a large clip when adding more layers from Oracle. It's gotten up to over a GIG. I've had to shutdown Mapguide server completely and then restart it. The memory usage will go back up as I interact with more Oracle spatial layers. Not sure if it's more on the Mapguide server side or the provider.

I just wish I could use this for non Oracle Spatial tables with coordinate fields. The ODBC provider will not show tables for me.

			Hi,

newer version of King.Oracle 0.3.3 provider:

			*	Support for Spatial Views
It will display views based on spatial tables. Views needs to be added into sdo_geom_metadata for provider to find them.

			Get it here: www.sl-king.com/fdooracle
