Frank...
Can you give an example of how to set up the GDAL provider from within
Studio (once it's installed on the server)?

Federico,
The FDO GDAL provider is available in the SVN repository of the project
at http://fdogdal.osgeo.org/
However, the provider was implemented against the development FDO API
which is FDO 3.2. That means it is, unfortunately, not possible to use
it with FDO 3.1 applications, such as the public release of MapGuide.
I have successfully tested it with the development version of MapGuide
for those brave enough to do everything directly from SVN.
I believe Autodesk is providing use of the Autodesk Raster Provider as a
stopgap till the release MapGuide is using FDO 3.2, but it not expecting
to release the source to it. It depends on quite a variety of internal
components I believe.
I hope this helps explain the situation a bit, even if it doesn't
accomplish anything for you in the short term.
