[mapguide-users] Mapguide 2007 and MS SQL connection

Autodesk FDO provider for SQL Server uses it's owm spatial storage
mechanism which covert various type of geometry and it can read both
spatial and non-spatial data.

If you don't want to use the commercial version, the ODBC provider can
be used for non-spatial data or for spatial data that has coordinate
stored in X,Y,Z columns (point data).

You are correct. If you only need attribute data the open source FDO
ODBC provider will work with MS SQL server.

Is the intention of the FDO SQL Server provider to be used for spatial
data only?  I thought I remembered seeing somewhere on this list that if
using SQL Server strictly for aspatial data, then it was recommended to
use the ODBC FDO provider.

The Enterprise (Commercial) version of MapGuide comes with a FDO
provider specifically for Microsoft's SQL Server.
