There is a second way, and it is to ask this list and get an answer. It
is also useful because once you find a solution to a common problem and
post, other people can also benefit.

It may be "correct behavior", but how do I find out why the points don't
show up on my map? The only way is to descend into the code to the level
of a core developer. As I said, most developers will not have the time
or inclination to make that commitment. They just want to use the API.
