I remember improving the opaque background code slightly in artifact
MG233 to take into account the font descent. So it depends on which
version of the code you are working with...
If you are using 1.0.0 I suggest you upgrade to a later build.
Otherwise, one simple thing to try would be to use a different font and
see if it results in less of a problem. The rendering of the background
rectangle in the AJAX viewer is somewhat approximate, since not all
information about the font is available to the code that draws the
rectangle.
If that fails, consider using ghosted background rather than solid. I
know it's not the same, but that's all I can think of that doesn't
involve modifying the source code to the font renderer.

Just wondering if there is a 'fix' or workaround for the problem with
Opaque labels in the AJAX viewer?
The opaque block seems to be 'misplaced' above the text... more
opaqueness above the text than below the text.
