Yes, it is usual. Wait for new FDO version, it will be released soon (i hope
so too).

Subject: [mapguide-users] Simple question about using of databases

Hallo,

please help with as simple problem at using databases.

At the first step I took a sample MS ACCESS DB and created a connection in
MapGuide Studio via ODBC. After configuration it was possible to select a
tabele and the rows for X and Y values.

Then I created a new layer based on this (point) data. It was possible to
define point styles and to view the data. This worked fine, but very slow!
For exmple, the paning in the Ajaxviever needed approximately 8 seconds for
4.000 points (and some other SDF based geometrie layers).

Is this usual?

Could using of MySQL-FDO bring better results? I have no experiences using
MySQL spatial data. Is anyone here, who cold send a link to a demo database
with some point data in MySQL spatial?

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day - Peter

P.S.: Here my configuration:

Win XP prof
MG Opensource 1.0.1
ODBC-FDO and MySQL-FDO 3.1.0.0 (downloaded in the last 4 weeks)
MG Studio (commercial) 1.0.0
