[Mapguide_users] Import DWG fails

There seems to be some major, and known, issues with DETE. The main problem
I have run into is if you try to load a DWG while having it automatically
creates feature classes on the fly. This is where it will often consume all
of your memory until it blows up. One solution is to create feature
definitions in the DWG prior, in which case it works very well, but this is
not going to always be feasible. If you have it create drawing sources
instead (DWF based layers), it works very well but then you lose the
intelligence of having features and their related attribute data.

Subject: [Mapguide_users] Import DWG fails

The Autodesk MapGuide site at
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=7176643 indicates
that you can import DWG files. However, when i try to do this with Studio I
soon get the error:

Found when opening C:\Program
Files\MapGuideOpenSource\Server\cmn\squamish\cadastral.dwg ...

An error occured.

If I continue, the DETE.exe process eventually uses up all memory and I must
reboot. I'm using MGOS 1.1.0, and am dragging the DWG file into Studio. I am
reluctant to try the same with our MGE server, as it would likely bring it
down.

Any suggestions?
