Thanks Zak,

This sounds like a smart, good quick fix.

Up till now, I had been relying on my finely honed Unreal Tournament mouse
skills to rapidly rebuild themes...

This is probably not the solution you're looking for, but this kind of
manipulation of the resources in the repository is possible via the
php/jsp/asp scripting interface. It would be possible to build a
custom tool (to be included in a web layout) to handle this.

A more direct approach would be to use Studio to save the layer as
XML, edit the feature source reference in a text editor and post it
back to the repository via the mapagent.

Not very user-friendly, but until Studio or web studio are enhanced to
handle this, those are the options I can see.
