[mapguide-users] .NET Choices

I am with Mickey Mouse on this one - VB. But I will use C# as well
depending on need.

Being able to switch back in forth and being able to understand both
syntaxes is great for utilizing code snippets that are widely available.

In general, with VS 2005, both VB and C# are capable of doing all the same
functionality even with their syntax differences.

With VS 2003, C# had a tiny bit more functionality.

They compile into the same common language so the performance is exactly the
same.

In business terms, C# developers typically enjoy higher salaries due to
legacy issues and cross over with C++.

This means if you are hiring or training support staff, VB is less overhead.

In the end it comes down to efficiency and what you are comfortable with.

Go with what you know best or with the favoured language among the staff.

Cheers,

Kori Maleski

Just wondering what .NET languages people are using for MG development and
why.
