I sounds like what you want is the "Markup" feature in the following 
white paper.

At the bottom in resources, 
http://data.mapguide.com/mapguide/gt/index.php, will take you the the 
sample as well as provide for you downloading the sample code on the 
right hand side.

Once you have that, see my post

for the ability to add the login username as the folder to pull the 
layers from for the map.
