1. What is your mapguide server version?
- 1.2b2
- 1.1.0
2. What is your OS?
- testing multiple linux distros with different versions of gcc
- successful compile/install/run on a) fedora 4, b) fedora 6, c) redhat
enterprise 4, d) centos 4 and e) debian etch.
(no luck with 64bit architecture)
- also win xp (binary version), because of problems/lack of support for
particular fdo providers.
3. Autodesk Mapguide Studio or Web Studio?
- mapguide studio
4. What is your preffered database?
- postgresql
- oracle
- mysql
5. What is your preffered data file (SDF, SHP...)?
- more familiar with shp (tend to use database)
6. What is your preffered image type (TIFF, JPEG...)?
- geotiff
- haven't had much luck with raster images.
- will display properly in studio, but not when accessing site
7. What is your preffered viewer, DWF or AJAX?
- ajax
8. How many application you have developed on Mapguide?
- a couple (sort of)
- modified/customized demo apps
9. What is most annoying thing[s] in Mapguide?
(not necessarily in order of priority)
a) lack of fdo providers for linux
- have ogr (postgis and oracle) working but need full read/write
capabilities.
- especially interested in fdopostgis (appears to be windows only)
- not much luck with oracle odbc on linux, either.
b) cannot get linux version to publish wms layers properly (exactly the
same config in xp and linux, but not working in linux)
- only result i've ever seen from mg linux wms server is an
'unsupported co-ordinate system' err msg
c) strict dependencies to build and run on linux (eg., no mysql beyond
5.0.22)
d) i know it would be tricky, but perhaps a binary build for linux
e) studio issues (yes, i know, not really server-related)
- have to run windows in order to use mapguide studio
- web studio not available (nor does it seem to work) on linux install
(tried to copy it from xp, but it didn't work properly)
- (i really do prefer to work in a non-microsoft environment. and,yes,
i realize i can do things via the mapagent, but haven't had time to
fully learn the api, yet :P)
that being said, my hat's off to the dev team. keep up the great work!
regards,
